Nintendo Announces New SNES Mini Console

UPDATE (7/5/2017): I have been seeing articles online reporting that customers, who were fortunate enough, to have pre-ordered units from Amazon have been getting emails informing them that their pre-orders are going to be limited to only one unit per person. And that the email states that this is due to "a change to the availability of this item" and concludes by saying "We understand this isn't what you expected when you placed your order and apologize for the inconvenience". Apparently, the new console is very popular, is in very high demand, and it is very hard to get a hold of as of the moment; just like the NES Mini Classic Edition that Nintendo has released before it.

Some speculate that this is a move to counter the practice of some individuals who preorder a huge volume of the console, thus depleting the current stocks, and then selling them for a profit online.

Nintendo has stated that it will sell the SNES Mini throughout 2017 but hasn't confirmed whether it will be making more after.

Nintendo Announces New SNES Mini Console

Earlier this month, Nintendo made an announcement that is sure to pique the interest of people who have played video games during the early 90s. Nintendo just announced another remake of one of their most popular earlier classic consoles, the new Super Nintendo Entertainment System Classic Edition or the new SNES Mini. The original SNES console was released in Europe back in 1992. This announcement follows on the heels of Nintendo’s previously released remakes of their classic consoles: the NES Classic Mini and the FamiCom Mini. It looks like Nintendo's targeting a profitable Christmas Season as the new console is to be made available on September 29, 2017, right before Christmas and it will sell for MSRP US$79.99.

What's In The Box

The new SNES Classic Edition will come with two wired retro Super NES Classic Controllers again modeled after the original console’s controllers. Two controllers will come in handy for the multiplayer games that the system will come bundled with out of the box such as Super Mario Kart and Street Fighter II Turbo: Hyper Fighting.

An HDMI cable and a USB power cable will also come packaged inside the box. But do note the exclusion of a USB AC adapter. Perhaps Nintendo assumes you might already have one lying around your house that came with your phone or tablet. Nevertheless it's trivial to just purchase one from Amazon.

The new SNES Classic Edition will also be compatible with Nintendo’s Classic Controller and Classic Controller Pro which you can also buy on Amazon.
